As much as I love mikayuu, I have very little faith in them actually being romantically canon. I’d like to think that in the end, they’ll be left to live their lives and they choose to be a family again?? I’m not sure about any romantic undertones since it’s a shounen manga and all. At this point, I think Yuu and Mika’s relationship can’t even be defined with something as simple as “lovers” or “brothers”. The two of them literally depend on each other so much, to the point where I can’t see them living without one another, at least not happily. 

I mean, with Yuu, he’s lived all these years thinking Mika was dead so he focused more on revenge and protecting his new family. But what happened as soon as he finds Mika again? He focuses on saving Mika almost immediately and completely changes. I think it goes without saying that if Yuu ever lost Mika again, he’s just going to lose the will to care. And oh god, don’t get me started on Mika. Mika literally revolves his life around Yuu because he’s the only thing he has left. I don’t want to think about what Mika will do if he ever lost Yuu.

So that’s kinda why I think their relationship goes waaaay beyond anything else. Even if the whole Yuu/Shinoa thing was forced, Yuu’s feelings for Mika will always transcend that. Even if mikayuu isn’t canon or romantically implied in the end, I’m happy enough knowing that these two have such a strong bond that they’ve basically pledged their life to each other. 

Not that I’m saying I wouldn’t want them to make out, because fuck yeah I want that but……….  yeah.
